But, I heard it on the Grapevine! ________________________________________________ The vast majority of people have been very appreciative, kind, and supportive of the Internet Ministry of the Order of the Legion of St. Michael. Many people are helped by our site — some convert to the faith, wayward Catholics return to the Church, liberal Catholics repent of their rebellion, faithful Catholics learn more and become excited about their faith, good Catholics come to understand what it means to live the victorious Christ-Life, Catholics addicted to sexual sins are helped and encouraged in their faith and in their healing, non-Catholics learn accurately about the Catholic Faith, Christians are helped with all sorts of spiritual and spiritual warfare problems, and much, much more. We receive hundreds of emails thanking us for our website and its services. But not everyone is so positively disposed towards us. Whenever a person or an organization dedicates itself to truth, humbling itself to the teaching authority of the Catholic Church, and asserts that Truth in apologetics and evangelization to others, there will be people unwilling to accept the Truth taught by God through His Church and her Magisterium. Those people tend to kill the messenger. Such was the case in Bible times, such is the case today. Unfortunately, this persecution is not limited to non-Catholics or non-Christians. The most frequent attacks come from fellow Catholics. Attacks come from so-called liberal Catholics (modern day Sadducees) who hate our orthodoxy , and from ultra-traditionalist Catholics (modern day Pharisees) who hate our loyalty and fidelity to the Church, and from other modern day Pharisees who act as self-appointed magisterium and … bind heavy and insupportable burdens and lay them on men’s shoulders: but with a finger of their own they will not move them. Indeed, St. Paul gives warning: But if you bite and devour one another take head that you are not consumed by one another (Gal 5:15) Jesus said (Matt 5:10): Blessed are you when men revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so men persecuted the prophets who were before you. But, Jesus went on to say (Matt 5:11-14): You are the salt of the earth; but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trodden under foot by men. You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hid. Nor do men light a lamp and put it under a bushel, but on a stand, and it give light to all in the house. Let you light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven. This website is dedicated to be that light on the hill, a bold lighthouse in a sea of darkness, and the salt by which all things may be seasoned by the Truth of God. In doing this we have presented ourselves in complete openness to who we are and what we are doing. Yet detractors of the faith, who do not have their ears open to God’s teaching through the Church, and who have declared their own personal opinions above the authority of the Church, or who otherwise have agendas contrary to Truth will ever try to avoid exposing their rebellion by attacking the messenger. Since we are one of those messengers we are a target for these people. The methods to malign our credibility are varied. Many do this through disingenuous remarks, accusations, innuendo, defamation of character, detraction, rash judgment, and calumny. Others may do this by evaluating us through the colored-glasses of their worldview which is rebellious or at least not consistent to the Church and the mind of Christ. We are reminded of a remark by Thomas Jefferson concerning letting detractors of the new Republic have a voice before the people. He said to let them stand up openly and make their arguments for all to see. The people will then hear them and decide they are fools, or if the people think the detractors are right, can then move to change the government. We have no fears at all in presenting these opinions from our detractors. We just don’t want our main services contaminated by their blather. So, to give these detractors a voice, we have setup this special Chronicle to publish formal reviews, comments, transcripts of chatroom discussions, and opinions about our Association, its website and Internet Ministry, gathered from varied sources. In this Chronicle we let them spew their calumny and detraction as they see fit. The public can then see for themselves the comparison between the rhetoric of the detractor and what we are doing in reality on our website and apostolate. We are confident that the majority of people, even after reading the opinions of detractors, will see that our Apostolate is Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam (for the greater glory of God).
