Regulation for church building QUESTION from Jørgen H. Jensenius May 20, 1999
Dear Sir, Living in a country where our forefathers build small churches of wood, I wonder if there ever was a canon, a rule or regulation about the height or the material of churches before this century in the Church? Yours J.H.Jenseius
ANSWER by Mr. John Miskell on May 22, 1999
Dear Friend in Christ, I'm unaware of a particular directive or law regarding the material or design of a church building. A wonderful website about church architecture can be found at http://www.catholicliturgy.com/architecture/ I once lived near a very old town in Germany called Holzkirchen which means Wooden churches. Strangely enough all the churches in Holzkirchen are made of stone. I'm sure there's a story behind it. Yours, John Miskell
