World in Chaos
Look around you; look at the chaos the world is in! Take the sunglasses off!

I was out of town for a bit. Glad to be back in this rural town; semi-isolated from the world, and it would be, if it were not for the media that we have access to, today. Looking around the world's events, good news and evil news, a song comes to mind, "The Times (They Are A Changin') by Bob Dylan. This song is amazingly prophetic. It is one of my favorite songs today, as it was when I was a "Longhair" in the 1960's; striving for change. Well! The change is here, and this favorite song calls to mind the damage that has been done. Are we in an American Version of the destruction of the church, as it was during the Bolshevik Revolution in Russia; or how the Ukrainean churches were destroyed and a state imposed atheism ensued?
Just peruse the Lyrics; then look around you at the chaos the world is in.

Come gather 'round people
Wherever you roam
And admit that the waters
Around you have grown
And accept it that soon
You'll be drenched to the bone.
If your time to you
Is worth savin'
Then you better start swimmin'
Or you'll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin'.

Come writers and critics
Who prophesize with your pen
And keep your eyes wide
The chance won't come again
And don't speak too soon
For the wheel's still in spin
And there's no tellin' who
That it's namin'.
For the loser now
Will be later to win
For the times they are a-changin'.

Come senators, congressmen
Please heed the call
Don't stand in the doorway
Don't block up the hall
For he that gets hurt
Will be he who has stalled
There's a battle outside
And it is ragin'.
It'll soon shake your windows
And rattle your walls
For the times they are a-changin'.

Come mothers and fathers
Throughout the land
And don't criticize
What you can't understand
Your sons and your daughters
Are beyond your command
Your old road is
Rapidly agin'.
Please get out of the new one
If you can't lend your hand
For the times they are a-changin'.

The line it is drawn
The curse it is cast
The slow one now
Will later be fast
As the present now
Will later be past
The order is
Rapidly fadin'.
And the first one now
Will later be last
For the times they are a-changin'.

The old is being pushed aside for the new. Is the old obedience and love of Christ Jesus reduced to descriptions, identifications, or quantifications in this new world. Are His words for eternal life subject to change? Absolutely Not! Are the commandments to be looked upon as words of the past that do not apply today? Nope! Are the rules of law to be void of any Judeo-Christian foundational basis? No! The secular, humanistic world is trying to do these things; remove every inferrence to GOD and make existence for those, who profess to be a child of GOD, extremely difficult.

Let us say the litany of Saint Michael.

Today's Mass Readings and Homily

A Prayer to Redeem Lost Time, by St. Teresa of Avila
O my God! Source of all mercy! I acknowledge Your sovereign power. While recalling the wasted years that are past, I believe that You, Lord, can in an instant turn this loss to gain. Miserable as I am, yet I firmly believe that You can do all things. Please restore to me the time lost, giving me Your grace, both now and in the future, that I may appear before You in "wedding garments." Amen.

Consecration of Families to the Sacred Heart
O most Sacred Heart of Jesus, Thou didst reveal to the blessed Margaret Mary Thy desire to rule over Christian families; behold, in order to please Thee, we stand before Thee this day, to proclaim Thy full sovereignty over our family. We desire henceforth to live Thy life, we desire that the virtues, to which Thou hast promised peace on earth, may flower in the bosom of our family; we desire to keep far from us the spirit of the world, which Thou hast condemned. Thou art King of our hearts by our love of Thee alone, with which our hearts are on fire and whose flame we shall nourish by frequent reception of the Holy Eucharist. Be pleased, O Sacred Heart, to preside over our gathering together, to bless our spiritual and temporal affairs, to ward off all annoyance from us, to bless our joys and comfort our sorrows. If any of us has ever been so unhappy as to fall into the misery of displeasing Thee, grant that he may remember, O Heart of Jesus, that Thou art full of goodness and mercy toward the repentant sinner. And when the hour of separation strikes and death enters our family circle, whether we go or whether we stay, we shall all bow meekly before Thine eternal decrees. This shall be our consolation, to remember that the day will come, when our entire family, once more united in heaven, shall be able to sing of Thy glory and Thy goodness forever. May the immaculate Heart of Mary and the glorious Patriarch Saint Joseph vouchsafe to offer Thee this our act of consecration, and to keep the memory thereof alive in us all the days of our lives.

Glory to the Heart of Jesus, our King and our Father! Amen.

To get away from all that is happening around us. Thanksgiving is not that far away, or it seems that way when you are over 50. Let me share our family Cornbread Dressing recipe.

DRESSING (JoJo’s Recipe)
350 degree oven

1 large hen, very fatty. Boil until done and falling off bone. You may have to add more water. Salt to cook.

Make three pones (pans) cornbread.

Crumble up one cup day old bread (small pieces of loaf bread or buns). Then crumble corn bread into fine pieces. Do this in a very large bowl. Salt cornbread.

Beat up two eggs real good and fluffy. This will be folded in last.

Dash a small amount of pepper into crumb mixture.

3 finely chopped onions

4 stalks celery, finely chopped – chill

Take chicken off bone in small pieces

WASH YOUR HANDS
Use very large bowl to mix onion, celery, cornbread and bread. Mix well. Use your hands! Pour broth (from the chicken) into dry mixture. Make very, very mushy and soupy.
WASH YOUR HANDS

Put in egg. Stir in very good. Add more broth after egg until about 1/8 inch of liquid is standing on the top.

1 ½ silverware teaspoon sage, taste, add ½ teaspoon more sage; mix; taste again. Add sage by ¼ teaspoons until you can almost taste the sage(sage is a potent spice). Stir after each addition.

Mix in chicken. Stir very good. Add more broth. Stir very good again. Pour into pan and bake for about an hour or until brown on top and done in the middle.

Just a Bit of Southern Humour and a Daughter Learning to Cook

1-800-MOM-COOK

DAUGHTER, ON PHONE: Hi, Mom. Can you give me your great dressing recipe? I need to impress the in-laws.
MOM: OK! First, you need to make a batch of cornbread. Don’t forget to put some diced onions in it. Then….
DAUGHTER: Wait! How much is a batch?
MOM: Do you have an iron skillet?
DAUGHTER: No. How big of one do I need?
MOM: The size of mine.
DAUGHTER: That’s a “batch”?
MOM: Yes.
DAUGHTER: How much onion?
MOM: Just however onion-y you like it. Then crumble up the cooked cornbread, along with a few handfuls of saltines and some slices of toasted bread.
DAUGHTER: Wait…. How much is a few and some?
MOM: Oh…. Until it looks right.
DAUGHTER: Mom, I’ve never seen it before--- how do I know when it looks “right”?
MOM: I guess it would be about 12 or more slices of bread and about 12 or more saltines. Then you need another iron skillet to sautee’ some more diced onions and some diced celery. Do you use oleo or butter?
DAUGHTER: What’s oleo?
MOM: Margarine, I use margarine.
DAUGHTER: OK, I’ll use margarine---but how much onion and celery?
MOM: Well, let’s see……about ½ cup. Maybe a little less onion, and ½ cup-----no make that ¾ cup celery.
DAUGHTER: OK Mom……1/2 cup onion and ¾ cup celery…..RIGHT?
MOM: Yes, but you need to adjust this to your taste the next time you make it.
DAUGHTER: (TO HERSELF: Yeah----fat chance I’ll make this again!) Mom, now wait! This is your recipe for the dressing we have at Christmas, right?
MOM: Yes! Isn’t it easy?
DAUGHTER: (TO HERSELF: Sure----sounds simple so far-----HA!)
MOM: After you have the cornbread, crackers, and bread all crumbled up in a BIG bowl, you add some sage, poultry seasoning, then salt and pepper to taste.
DAUGHTER: WAIT A MINUTE! You mean, I have to taste this mess?
MOM: Well, not now. You haven’t added the beaten eggs.
DAUGHTER: What? Raw eggs? I’m not tasting anything with raw eggs in it!
MOM: Don’t be silly--- a taste of raw egg never hurt anybody. But don’t taste it until you’ve put the sautéed onions and celery. Then you put in the two or three beaten eggs----NOW you taste it.
DAUGHTER: (TO HERSELF: Right! That’ll be the cold day.)
MOM: Then you add two or three cups of turkey broth.
DAUGHTER: Wait! Hold on! Am I supposed to be cooking a turkey while I’m doing this?
MOM: No, you’ve had the turkey on for a couple of hours-----just dip out the broth.
DAUGHTER: (TO HERSELF: I guess I’ll figure out how to cook the turkey later---- I hope the turkey comes with better directions than this!) So now I pour in how much broth?
MOM: Two cups at first, and then see if it is wet enough.
DAUGHTER: Wet enough? What do you mean wet enough?
MOM: Pick up a little bit and if it feels mushy, it’s OK. If it is not, then add more broth.
DAUGHTER: (TO HERSELF: Mushy,
wet --- is this unabridged cooking lingo?)
MOM: But you don’t want it too wet---you know your dad likes his dry. Now you taste it to see if you need anymore sage.
DAUGHTER: (WHINING) Taste it AGAIN?
MOM: You might need more seasoning! Don’t over do the sage---you can usually tell by the smell if you have enough.
DAUGHTER: (TO HERSELF: tell by the smell---there it is again---that specific cooking terminology.)
MOM: Then all you need to do is put it in a greased baking dish. I use my glass Pyrex dish, and most of the time it all fits. If not, just put the rest of the stuffing in something else and bake it, too.
DAUGHTER: (TO HERSELF: I just love accurate measurements.) How long do I bake it?
MOM: Oh, about an hour in a medium oven or until it is light brown.
DAUGHTER: What oven temperature is medium?
MOM: About, oh…..let’s see….350 degrees.
DAUGHTER: (TO HERSELF: This is a woman who has made this delicious dressing 36 times that I can remember, and she still says “medium oven”, “not too mushy”, and “you can tell by the smell” and this is as close to a recipe as I can get out of her!) Mom, thanks so much. You are sure this is the same dressing recipe you use every Christmas?
MOM: Yes.
DAUGHTER: The same dressing recipe everybody loves?
MOM: Yes!
DAUGHTER: The same dressing recipe we sometimes have at Thanksgiving, too?
MOM: YES!
DAUGHTER: OK, OK, just checking. Thanks again, Mom! I’ll call if I have any questions.

What is going on in the ECUSA
The news medias are all focused on what has been going on in the ECUSA this week, but will get to that in a bit. For many years, I have been following the writings of a Lee Penn in regards to something called the "United Religions Initiative", it is sort of a "United Nations for Religion", founded by a USA Episcopal Bishop. It sounds great, to promote harmony in the world, but there are many things to be concerned about. The Vatican is strongly against the URI.

United Religions Initiative

Excerpt from, "The Case Against the United Religions Initiative - Lee Penn"

The United Religions Initiative (URI), founded in 1995 by Episcopal Bishop William Swing, intends to create a spiritual equivalent of the United Nations, encompassing all religions and all spiritual movements. The stated goals of the URI include peace among religions, social justice, and preservation of the environment. Bishop Swing says, "The nature of the United Religions would be to focus on: 1) the whole human family; 2) the whole health of our planet; and 3) the whole realm of living species, and to offer the unique gifts of religions...Bishop Swing has said, "The time comes, though, when common language and a common purpose for all religions and spiritual movements must be discerned and agreed upon. Merely respecting and understanding other religions is not enough."(9) If all religions are to have "a common purpose," and the purpose of religion is to worship a god, then Bishop Swing is calling "all religions and spiritual movements" to worship a shared god. If Mikhail Gorbachev's views gain influence, the god of the New Religion will be nature. Gorbachev has said, "I believe in the cosmos. All of us are linked to the cosmos. Look at the sun. If there is no sun, then we cannot exist. So nature is my god. To me, nature is sacred. Trees are my temples and forests are my cathedrals."(10)

The United Religions Initiative Charter signed in Pittsburg before 5 pm, on June 26, 2000, in Pittsburgh's Carnegie Music Hall

About the URI:

"The worldwide cry for reform among religions is becoming deafening. Islam is straining in an effort to update itself. Roman Catholics are plagued by internal matters. Protestants are questioning their uniqueness. Jews are arguing over who is a Jew. Where in the world will religious reform take place? And from that place what can be exported to a waiting world? Why not in the United States of America? Why not dig more deeply into the genius of Jefferson? Religious freedom was used in the past to keep us from tearing each other apart. Could not it be used now in the United States to help us create significant international respect and new models of global cooperation? We have imported almost every religion in the world, most of those religions having long histories of religiously motivated violence. Could we not, here and now, move beyond ancient hostilities to fresh ways of collaboration? Not by sacrificing unique religious beliefs and blending into one foggy faith but by aspiring to a basic civility among believers of all faiths. Could this not be our gift to the world?"

For your understanding, here is theCharter of the URI

Taken from Washington Post Article entitled, "Episcopal Vote Allows Blessings of Gay Unions" ,

MINNEAPOLIS, Aug. 6 -- A day after approving the election of an openly gay bishop, Episcopal Church leaders today passed a watered-down resolution giving dioceses the option of blessing same-sex unions.

With the dissent, anger, and possible schism within the ECUSA and the Anglican Church, I was curious to what , "member of anglican communion meant".
If an Anglican church is a member of the Anglican Communion, it is said to be "in communion", or "in communion with the See of Canterbury". Otherwise it is said to be "not in communion." Generally, Anglican churches that are not in communion with the See of Canterbury have withdrawn because of doctrinal differences. In recent years those differences have included the ordination of women priests and the attitude of the church towards sexuality.

The Episcopal Church of the USA is a member of the Anglican Communion.<b>
Then the question of authority popped up in the field of view:
The worldwide Anglican Church does not exist—at least not in the form that one might think. There are millions of Anglicans, many thousands of parishes, and hundreds of dioceses. There are nearly 40 independent Anglican national churches, none of which has authority over any other. But there is no central administration: no Pope, no Patriarch, no overall director. There is no Parliament or Congress. There is certainly a Church of England. But there is also the Church in Wales, the Church of Ireland, and the Scottish Episcopal Church, none of which is governed by the Church of England.
Does this mean semi-free reign depending on the country?

I thank GOD for giving us the Catholic Church and her teaching authority, and the true apostolic succession, and as it says in the Creed, "...I believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church..." Here is but a part of what the Holy Mother Church says about homosexual unions. See link for the complete document.

Here is just the powerful Conclusion:

11. The Church teaches that respect for homosexual persons cannot lead in any way to approval of homosexual behaviour or to legal recognition of homosexual unions. The common good requires that laws recognize, promote and protect marriage as the basis of the family, the primary unit of society. Legal recognition of homosexual unions or placing them on the same level as marriage would mean not only the approval of deviant behaviour, with the consequence of making it a model in present-day society, but would also obscure basic values which belong to the common inheritance of humanity. The Church cannot fail to defend these values, for the good of men and women and for the good of society itself.

CONGREGATION FOR THE DOCTRINE OF THE FAITH: CONSIDERATIONS REGARDING PROPOSALS TO GIVE LEGAL RECOGNITION TO UNIONS BETWEEN HOMOSEXUAL PERSONS

In closing thought, we should stand before the mirror and ask ourself, "Who am I to obey and please; the world, or GOD?" Am I modifying the structure of the Church to fit the requirements of "the future world order."

In closing reference to Scripture, let review what is said about Bishops and Deacons. Taken from the Douay-Rheims Bible.

1 Timothy Chapter 3 (reference as this is a note What sort of men are to be admitted into the clergy. The church is the pillar of truth.)

3:1 A faithful saying: If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth good work.
3:2 It behoveth therefore a bishop to be blameless, the husband of one wife(Note of one wife. . . The meaning is not that every bishop should have a wife (for St. Paul himself had none), but that no one should be admitted to the holy orders of bishop, priest, or deacon, who had been married more than once.), sober, prudent, of good behaviour, chaste, given to hospitality, a teacher,
3:3 Not given to wine, no striker, but modest, not quarrelsome, not covetous, but
3:4 One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all chastity.
3:5 But if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?
3:6 Not a neophyte: lest, being puffed up with pride, he fall into the judgment of the devil.
3:7 Moreover, he must have a good testimony of them who are without: lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.
3:8 Deacons in like manner: chaste, not double tongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre:
3:9 Holding the mystery of faith in a pure conscience.
3:10 And let these also first be proved: and so let them minister, having no crime.
3:11 The women in like manner: chaste, not slanderers, but sober, faithful in all things.
3:12 Let deacons be the husbands of one wife: who rule well their children and their own houses.
3:13 For they that have ministered well shall purchase to themselves a good degree and much confidence in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.
3:14 These things I write to thee, hoping that I shall come to thee shortly.
3:15 But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth(Note The pillar and ground of the truth. . . Therefore the church of the living God can never uphold error, nor bring in corruptions, superstition, or idolatry.).
3:16 And evidently great is the mystery of godliness, which was manifested in the flesh, was justified in the spirit, appeared unto angels, hath been preached unto the Gentiles, is believed in the world, is taken up in glory.

Closing Prayer of protection for our obedient brothers and sisters in the episcopal church, may they see the truth and come home:

Trusting in the promise that whatever we ask the Father in Jesus' name He will do, I now approach You Father with confidence in Our Lord's words and in Your infinite power and love for me and for the humble and obedient brothers and sisters in the ECUSA , and with the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, the Blessed Apostles Peter and Paul, Blessed Archangel Michael, my guardian angel and the guardian angels of the humble and obedient brothers and sisters in the ECUSA , with all the saints and angels of heaven, and Holy in the power of His blessed Name, as ask you Father to protect the humble and obedient brothers and sisters in the ECUSA and keep him from the harassment of the devil and his minions.

Father I ask on behalf of the humble and obedient brothers and sisters in the ECUSA that You build a hedge of protection around him, like that which surrounded Job, and to help the humble and obedient brothers and sisters in the ECUSA to keep that hedge repaired and the gate locked so that the devil and his minions have no access or means to breach the hedge except by your expressed will.

Father, I know that we are powerless against the spiritual forces of evil and recognize our utter dependence on You and Your power. Look with mercy upon the humble and obedient brothers and sisters in the ECUSA . Do not look upon his sins, O Lord; rather, look at the sufferings of your Beloved Son and see the Victim who's bitter passion and death has reconciled us to You. By the victory of the cross, protect the humble and obedient brothers and sisters in the ECUSA from all evil and rebuke any evil spirits who wish to attack, influence, or breach Your hedge of protection in any way. Send them back to Hell and fortify Your Hedge for his protection by the blood of Your Son, Jesus. Send your Holy Angels to watch over him and protect him.

Father, all of these things I ask in the most holy name of Jesus Christ, Your Son. Thank you, Father, for hearing my prayer. I love You, I worship You, I thank You and I trust in You. Amen.

In His Name,

Subject: CNN Poll on marriage. Guess what, we're losing 67% to 33%
Greetings in Christ Jesus

I was breezing through the online news sites the other day when I saw a poll on CNN. The CNN poll asks: Should marriage be legally defined as only a union between a man and a woman?

http://edition.cnn.com/2003/ALLPOLITICS/07/30/bush.gay.marriage/index.html
You know it is a sad day when 67% of a poll says that a marriage should not be legally defined as only a union between a man and a woman. After seeing this I thought,"I wonder how many that responded to this profess to be a Christian?" Then I thought about part of the readings from todays mass:

Eph 4:17, 20-24
Brothers and sisters:
I declare and testify in the Lord that you must no longer live as the Gentiles(pagans) do, in the futility of their minds; that is not how you learned Christ, assuming that you have heard of him and were taught in him, as truth is in Jesus, that you should put away the old self of your former way of life, corrupted through deceitful desires, and be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and put on the new self, created in God's way in righteousness and holiness of truth.

From the various news sources, it appears that some of the main stream protestant churches will more than likely split over this, due to this deceit promulgated by SATAN. Satan has numbed Christians to where there are two sides of them; the church side and the world side that wants to be accepted by the world. Hey; it is not so bad being thought of as a "Religious Nutball". So be it.

In today's times, one is shunned for standing up for the Word of God, professing to be Christian; whereas after the ascension of Christ, to be with the Father, Christians were martyred for their faith. A minister once told me, in conversation, that the worst thing that Constantine did was to make Christianity legal. Yes; it began the end of dying for being a Christian, but it also began the watering down of the word, and the plausibility of ministers who do not want to anger anyone. Jesus Christ angered multitudes. We are afraid to cause anger by telling the truth

Truth does not have to be spoken in a harsh manner, but in a loving way.

Let your voice be heard on this subject; write your Federal Representatives and Senators, and your State Representatives and Senators. Let them know where you stand and why. Stand up in your parish and take a stand for the truth. Remember that after we die and the sands of our lives are being sifted on judgement day, all will be reviewed on what we did, and what we did not do when we had an opportunity to do so. The world is trying to destroy the sanctity of marriage as we know it.
