Violent Haunting
First let me explain that I was raised Catholic but haven't been a regular church goer for about 10 years now. I realize I need to change my life. The incidents I will describe are not happening to me but to my father who is a Christian but not a Catholic. My father is in his 80's and lives alone. He is a stable man and has never been one to be afraid. Recently he related to me stories about "happenings" that are occurring in his house.
Second, get my father to a grief councilor in case it's a mental health issue.
Would I be putting my self or others in danger from the "entity" by
Should we ask the local priest to bless the house even though my father is non-Catholic?
Is there any danger to us in just visiting for weekend?
Is it possible this "entity" will start attacking other family members while staying in the house?
Thank you very much.
QUESTION from Ron on April 15, 2004
.
My mother died in a freak accident a couple of years ago.
Shortly after my mother died she came to me in a dream. My other brothers and sisters also had a similar dream. In the dream she simply appeared and seemed to be happy. This was the only dream I had of her since she died.
.
A few months after my mothers death my father said while sleeping he felt someone kick him in the ribs. When he looked up he said he saw our mother standing there. Let me tell you, this would be totally out of character for my mother. She was a good Catholic and made sure all us children were raised Catholic. She was never one to be violent or to use foul language.
.
My father tells me that just recently, after having just laid down in bed, something pulled the sheets off the bed. He also said that he sometimes wakes up in the night and feels something poking him in the back. He also hears sounds, for example, like someone is in the kitchen arranging the silverware.
.
He only told me these things as it's taking a physical toll on him. He said he was afraid to say anything before as he thought I wouldn't believe him. I don't know if this is real or a mental health issue. Like I said earlier, he's always been mentally stable so it seems quite odd he would make this up. Until recently he said he didn't believe in such things (hauntings).
.
I have been in the house many times and have not had any experiences, yet. Neither have other members of our family, except for one sister, who claimed she could sense something evil in the house.
.
Firstly, I was thinking as a course of action to get some blessed salt, holy water and blessed medals and put them in the house, while praying St. Michaels prayer.
.
What are your thoughts?
taking this action?
.
I am very worried for my fathers well being since this "entity" appears to be violent in nature.

Dear Ron: Thank you for your question. Know that we will be in prayer for you and your family. Also, I am happy to hear that you will be returning to the Church after 10 years. For this we praise and thank God as His grace is certainly at work in your life.
Firstly, I was thinking as a course of action to get some blessed salt, holy water and blessed medals and put them in the house, while praying St. Michaels prayer. What you have suggested is a good course of action. However, remember that your father will need to be the one to consent to these things. You cannot and should not force him to do something that is against his will or against his conscience. Since he is a non-Catholic, he may object to using Catholic sacramentals. In that case, there are other prayers that can be prayed at the house. You will find these prayers in the prayer catalog (see the link below). They can be edited to remove reference to the Saints and to Mary if need be.
What are your thoughts? The types of things that your father describes as happening certainly sound like it could be a demonological problem. However, it could also be psychological. Nevertheless, you can always proceed "as if" it is demonological. Prayer is always efficatious.
Would I be putting my self or others in danger from the "entity" by taking this action? Yes, there is always the possibility of retaliation. However, this is not reason enough to do nothing. Remember, God will not allow you, your father, or anyone else in your family to be tested beyond their strength. This is His promise to all of us. Trust in Him and in His protection. Know that He is always with you and and is watching over you and your father at all times. Try not to be afraid: God is in control.
Should we ask the local priest to bless the house even though my father is non-Catholic? Certainly, if your father does not object. The blessing of a priest is a wonderful and powerful defense against the enemy.
Is there any danger to us in just visiting for weekend? It depends upon what you mean by danger. Might you see or hear something? If it is a demonological problem, then yes, this is possible. Might something do to you what it is doing to your father? If it is a demonological problem, then yes, this is a posibility. Should you fear for your life or for your soul? No, absolutely not. Remember, God is always watching over you and your guardian angel is with you. Take courage in God, trust in Him, and be there to support your father in his time of difficulty.
I am very worried for my fathers well being since this "entity" appears to be violent in nature. Again, God is in control and is with your father through these trials. Do not be afraid of demons. They are chained dogs and cannot do whatever they want to do; only what God allows. And if God allows it, then we can trust that it is for a good reason. Pray that your father, in fact, your whole family and all involved, will be drawn closer to the Lord through these experiences - just as He is drawing you closer to Him through these things. God bless you,
