Psalter Cycle
Hello Brother:
I have an addition of the "Shorter form of Christian Prayer". On page 15 there is "The Cycle of the Four-Week Psalter". There is a chart of the Week number that is to be used on the Monday after Pentecost. My schedule only goes to 2005. I cannot figure out how they come up with what week is to be used for each year. For instance, this year week number 3 will be used. How is this figured? I hope that you may have a more recently printed copy that goes beyond 2005. If you do please indicate what weeks would be used on the Monday after Pentecost for the years subsequent to 2005. Thanks...

Dear Thierry: The four-week cycle begins with the first week of Ordinary Time. Then after the Easter Season and Pentecost, the cycle picks up at where is left off. The specific week will be dependent on what date Pentecost falls, which is dependent upon what date Easter falls. The date of Easter is determined by the first Sunday after the first Full Moon on or after the Vernal Equinox, the Full Moon being the 14th day of the New Moon, the New Moon having aged 13 days, and the Vernal Equinox being on 21st day of March. You say WHAT? :) If you want confused even more read the article, The Determination of Easter. As for the Week to use on the Monday after Pentecost for coming years, my deep dark secret resources tell me the following schedule:
2006 - Week 1 If I am still alive in 2010, and there is a good chance that I won't be, I'll contact my deep dark resources again and provide the schedule for 2011 and beyond :)
