Dear Jane, Justo L. Gonzalez is a Protestant professor on the faculty of the Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta. I have not read this book but am aware that it is highly thought-of. Since Dr. Gonzalez is a Protestant, I presume he writes with a Protestant viewpoint. However it seems from reviews I have read that he is not an anti-Catholic writer. The most reliable history of Christianity available today, from a Catholic perspective, is Warren Carroll's "History of Christendom" series, available from www.christendom.edu Another good author is Philip Hughes, but his books are out of print now. I hope this helps. If there are any specific questions regarding the content of Dr. Gonzalez's book, please feel free to ask me about them. God bless,
