Sexual climax outside of marital act
QUESTION from Jimmy on May 15, 2004

I've searched your archives but couldn't find this answer.

Does The Church forbid me to bring my wife to climax outside of the normal marital act (e.g., during the time of abstenance when practicing NFP). That is to say that she ONLY is brought to climax and not myself.

I understand that individual theologians have drawn conclusions but I'm not aware of any church teaching one way or the other.

Thank You,
Jimmy

Dear Jimmy:

It is my understanding that a married couple may enjoy sexual play that does not lead to intercourse, or lead to climax by the man, during those times of abstinence. While this is technically permitted, it can be rather dangerous for obvious reasons in terms of maintaining the abstinence.

It should always be remembered that Natural Family Planning is permitted ONLY if there is a serious reason to regulate births.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
