RE: Benny Hinn
QUESTION from Damien on November 27, 2003

I've always been amazed by how many people actually fall for this stuff. Catholics and other Christians especially shouldn't fall for it. If it goes against Scripture then it's most surely a lie. I didn't hear that he plans to have Jesus appear with him on stage soon. I wonder if any Christians that are planning to attend this "appearance of Jesus" has read Matthew 24:23-28:

"If anyone says to you then, 'Look, here is the Messiah!' or, 'There he is!' do not believe it. False messiahs and false prophets will arise, and the will perform signs and wonders so great as to decieve, if that were possible, even the elect. Behold, I have told it to you beforehand. So if they say to you, 'He is in the desert,' do not go out there; if they say, 'He is in the inner rooms,' do not believe it. For just as lightening comes from the east and is seen as far as the west, so will the coming of the Son of Man be. Wherever the
corpse is, there the vultures will gather."

Jesus knew beforehand all the nonsense that Satan would pull in order to draw them from the Church. Use common sense. For those that feel the Chruch is too controlling, try to remember a time when you were a toddler. You wanted all that candy so bad, but your parents told you no. Why? That candy is so good, you should be able to have it, and it isn't fair for them to
deny you of your fun. Now that your older, you realize it was for your own good, and though the act seemed controlling and mean it was really an act of love that you will pass on to your kids.

Dear Damien:

Thanks for your observations. Unfortunately one of the main reasons why people get hoodwinked is ignorance of the Bible. St. Jerome said, "Ignorance of Scriptures is ignorance of Christ."

How can anyone truly know Christ unless they read his love-letter to us -- the Bible? How can anyone really avoid the traps and snares of the devil, false prophets and wonder-workers if they do not know the Bible and the Church?

The passage you quoted is so important. It conclusively tells us what to look for to discern the false christs, yet many will be deceived anyway.

We must pray for the ignorant and the gullible and the weak that they will be protected against the evil one and his snares.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
