Benny Hinn
Hello,
QUESTION from Mark on October 13, 2003
I would appreciate your urgent help in this matter. I am 21 years old from Mumbai, India. The Archbishop of Mumbai has recently issued an official warning Catholics in the archdiocese against attending a Benny Hinn crusade scheduled for February next year. Though I fully agree with the ban, I feel it is important to get across to congregations all over Mumbai the "reason" why they should stay away from the crusades. Many catholics find the ban a very 'controlling' step by the church and choose to disobey - simply because they aren't educated on Church teaching and therefore fall easy victim to heretical principles and ideologies. I am therefore in the process of compiling a booklet of information on the major errors of Benny Hinn's teaching and their contradictions with the teachings of the Catholic Church - which could be distributed or emailed to all parishes in the diocese to assist the parish priests when defending the Archbishops letter. Although I think that Benny Hinn could very well be a man of God, I fear that he is misguided and misguiding. I would therefore appreciate it if you could send me whatever information you can on the subject. Thank you.

Dear Mark: I agree with your bishop, Catholics should stay away from Benny Hinn. There are so many objections to what Mr. Hinn is doing that it would take a book. Some of the most aggregious are the heresies he promotes such as saying the God has nine spirits, the Father and Son have spirit-bodies, and the name-it-and-claim-it theology. He has also promoted the idea that Jesus took on the nature of Satan and had to be redeemed. He also says that the Holy Spirit told him personally that women were originally meant to give birth out of their sides. His healing crusades are a farse employing hypnotic manipulation and peer pressure to effect the "slain in the spirit" of some of the audience. He also claimed to effect a resurrection, but under intense questioning from a reporter he admitted that he lied about it. He has given several prophecies, none of which have come true, and on and on and on. Then to top it of Hinn tells us that Jesus will personally and physically appear with him on stage soon. Anyone who thinks this guy is legit, I have a oceanside property to sell you in Arizona.
