non denominational christians
Hello,
I recently saw a site called "Biblical Proof that the Catholic Church is False". Something like this about their sect would be perfect to help me better witness to them about the truth of the Catholic Faith. I personally haven't met any that actually know anything about Christian history and when I inform them of the Protestant Reformation and the FACT that the Catholic Church is the fist Christian Church and established by Christ they usually have no idea of what I'm talking about.
The only majorly unbiblical things I'm aware of is that they go against Christ's proclomation that NO ONE who is not born again of water can even see the kingdom of Heaven. They instead view baptism as more or less symbolic and not so much a requirement but an expectation. I find the Bible clearly contradicts this. Is there anything else you are aware of? Your help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks a lot and God bless you,
QUESTION from Scott on September 14, 2003
Over the last year I have recently been confronted by many non denominational christians and have unfortunatlely learned that they can be somewhat pushy and even alittle arrogant. Not all of them by any means, some are truely wonderful, bu a lot aren't. They constantly approach me and try to "witness" to me as though I weren't even a christian, despite the fact that they are well aware that I'm catholic. They firmly believe the really tired issue of "catholics worship saints, Mary, blah blah" but what I was looking for was a website that highlighted the flaws in the non denominational beliefe so that I could maybe be a better witness to them. But I can't find any. There are thousands of "flaws with the Catholic Faith" sites that highlight their missinterpritations about us that they use to "prove" we are false, but is there any site you know of that illustrates the flaws in the non denominational church?
Scott
also, hasn't the non denominational sect more or less become a denomination? Thanks

Dear Scott: I understand the frustration. The way to expose their flaws is not to go after them like they come after us, but to simply preach the true faith and show why the Catholic position is the correct one and theirs is not. The two sites that will give you many pamphlets that address these issues and many articles of the how the Bible proves the Catholic Church are: Catholic Answers and Biblical Evidence for Catholicism. There are many books also, such as "Catholicism and Fundamentalism" which rebut the anti-catholic bible written by Loraine Boettner called, Roman Catholicism. Boettner is the prime source of all the anti-Catholic blather since the 1960's. Whether these fundamentalists know it or not they are following the bigoted diatribe of lies, distortions, and fraud of Lorraine Boettner and those who came before him. Warning: I would not actually read Boettner's book unless you have a strong constitution. Otherwise one could be so angry at the outrageous fraud of this man that they may put a fist through a wall :) Also read the books of other converts. They will reveal a wealth of information about how they realized that the fundamentalist position was wrong and the Catholics are right. One book is called, "Born Fundamentalist, Born Again Catholic" I think.
God Bless, P.S. yes, the term non-denominational is an oxymoron. I usually call these groups the nondenominational denonimation. :) P.P.S. I use to be a Baptist and then a "non-denominational" preacher. |
