Return of the Latin Mass
Dear Mr.Slavek,
Do you think we will ever see the Tridentine Rite or Old Latin Mass return and be restored as the official liturgy of the Church? If so, why and how soon? If not, what are the obstacles to reinstituting the Latin Mass?
Thank you and God Bless you!
Robert

Dear Robert, I really doubt that it will become the Mass used universally again, especially since Vatican II called for the active participation of the people. What is more likely is that we will keep using our Mass that we have now, but not translated: that is, prayed in Latin. This is done here and there throughout the country, The major obstacle to this happening of course is that virtually everyone has forgotten Latin, including priests. We would need to start almost completely from scratch. This will be no easy task. The best way to start is to have parishes start praying the ordinary in Latin. Let your pastor know that you are interested! Mr. Slavek |
