Re: Good Friday Exposition
QUESTION from Lee on April 16, 2004

It is quite possible that what the recent poster witnessed on Good Friday was an ethnic Polish parish's Good Friday liturgy. In the Missal approved for Poland, there is indeed a ritual after the service of exposing a host in a shrouded monstrance, and then processing with it solemnly, incensing it and blessing the people. The whole custom can be found detailed in the Polish Missal. Many American parishes of Polish ethnicity conduct such a service. I would guess other Slavic parishes do it as well.

ANSWER by Mr. Jacob L. Slavek on April 21, 2004

Dear Lee,

Thank you for posting this information, I had not already known it. I found it particularly interesting since I am Polish (American) myself.

I don't have a Polish missal, but it seems that the original poster said that the priest left the Host exposed for adoration rather than for an approved custom.

Mr. Slavek
