Re: Incense!
QUESTION from Rosa on January 8, 2004

Just a comment on what Doug said on Dec. 30th. I can relate to what the priest said about how it affects people with respiratory problems. I have asthma and allergies and, although I love incense, more often than not I have to run when it's used. I start coughing, my nose runs, my eyes burn, and my throat starts to close up. It seems to vary between types of incense though, because for some I'm okay where others I have to leave the room.

I was at a retreat once where the priest was using incense during Mass, and sure enough the censer broke off and came flying right at my part of the chapel. I ended up in the bathroom with cold wet paper towels over my eyes. *sigh*

Dear Rosa,

Thanks for writing, I didn't feel qualified to comment about asthma before since I do not have it and have no idea really what would happen.
