Pope gave communion to Tony Blair?
QUESTION from Maria on May 26, 2004

Dear Brother Ignatius,

I was reading an article in Newsday yesterday http://www.newsday.com/news/nationworld/nation/ny-uscath233818320may25,0,76010.story.

When I came to the paragraph below I was really surprised and wondered if it could possibly be true.

Saying that pro-abortion politicians should be denied Communion ... is a new and, really, a very unusual development," said the Rev. Thomas Reese, editor of America, a Catholic magazine. "It's not happening in Europe. It's not happening in Italy. Even the pope gave Communion to Tony Blair, who's a pro-choice Episcopalian, at a private Mass last year."

Do you know if this is true? Would the pope really give holy communion to a pro-abortion non-catholic? I don't think so. Newsday has not been too kind to the Catholic Church and I would like to write to them with the facts.

Thanks for any information you may have.

Sincerely,

Maria

Dear Maria:

Consider the source of who said this. That alone will tell you that his words are best printed out and used as lining for the bottom of a bird cage.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
