Ouiji boards
            QUESTION from Anne-Marie on June 3, 2004

Dear Brother Ignatius,

I know that Ouiji boards are not good and should be destroyed. I never knew much about them, but always told people not to fall for that kind of game. I was told that they will believe me only if I can prove to them the danger in playing that game. Could you please explain it to me in many details as you can. Thank you and God bless you for all you do. Anne-Marie

ANSWER by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM on June 4, 2004

Dear Anne-Marie:

You may want to look at the Q&A immediately before this one; it was about Ouija Boards too.

Bottomline is that trying to contact "spirits" is dangerous as to do so is to risk having those spirit attack and harass the player of the Board.

To play in Satan's sandbox one will get Satan's sand in their shoes. It is foolish to play with such things. While nothing may happen, everything could happen.

If I stand in a barrel of gasoline and strike a match 1000 times with nothing happening, is doing this still a wise thing to do? Of course not; the 1001st time I might blow-up.

Ultimately involving ourselves in things like divination is an affront against God and a risk of demonic harassment. Why take the risk? Why insult God?

In the end, if your friends cannot understand these basic things and decide to play around with Ouija boards and the like, they are fools.

In the end, all you can do is to explain these things and pray for them. They will make their own decisions according to their own foolishness or prudence as the case may be.

Some people will not listen to truth. As the Bible says in Proverbs 26:4 "Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest you be like him yourself. Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own eyes."

Will Rogers, the pithy commentator, made a great remark about three kinds of people and how they learn. Rogers said the three kinds of people are, "the rare one who can learn by reading, the few who can learn by observation and the vast majority who just have to piss on the electric fence for themselves."

Sometimes we have to watch our friends, our children, our family go down the wrong road helpless to stop them. We have to accept that and pray for them. If they get themselves into trouble, then we must try to help them, but we cannot do anything other than try to convince them and let them do what they will do.

May God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
