breaking other's powers
Hello Brother Ignatius,
I read the answer in the other post you gave me but i just wanted to have something more clarifed if you please could. Thank you very much.
Now you metioned that through prayers curses can be broken and the person be freed. Now is there such a thing as a prayer to destroy the powers of someone or something els????? I wanted to use a passage from the scriptures but unfortunalty i am trully sorry but forgot where it is. It says that this person with his eyes was hypnotising or controling withthe eye contact, or something like that, the crouds and bringing them far from God with his words of falsness. I think it was an apostle or was it saint Paul?? He prayed that to be broken and it says that from his eyes fell something and the crouds left him for he was unable to continue what he was doing that was wrong. I think he lost his eye sight???????
Hope that helps you find the passage. I was wondering if that was still done today? My other question regarding this is this. What about free will in here. I know that we can ask God to remove powers and to grant them the grace of conversion. I know we can denie and refuse any powers that comes from the devil. We can renounce to them i am certian of it that is not the question.
In all of this where is free will if you don't mind me asking? I can understand punishement, one losing his eye sight due to it. We get what we run after. But, what about curses and the people that do them? Can one person be delivered and be attacked again by the same person sending yet again another curse to her again ? Can that not be broken by using what i have described above????? Removing one's power of doing things? I do think that one can ask special protection from another person thus stopping the attacks comming from that person through curses and invocations and what ever may be used.
PS: I have seen people pray, in a ministry of deliverance, and say that those maledictions, hatred or curses fall over there own heads, the people that sent them, and no where els. Is this right to do?? I would rather pray for there conversions and ask the Lord to forgive them and that same grace for the person living the attacks. I think that would be more God like. The Lord did say to Love your ennemies.
Thanks for any info you can provide on this issue.

Dear Sandy: I have no idea what Bible passage you are referring to, but no, we do not have prayers to destroy the power of someone else -- at least in the way that you word the question. Christians do not try to control others through prayer. That is called prayer magick. God does not try to control others. He will never violate a person's free will and thus will not force a person to do something. Thus for us to ask God to intrude upon someone else's free will is an improper prayer that will not be honored. Rather, if we see someone using occult powers, we prayer intercessory prayers that this person will be convinced to leave the occult, to convert to Christ, and to ask perhaps that the person's powers be hampered as a way to catch his attention. Now, this might sound like the same thing, and the latter is probably what you are meaning, but we need to be clear -- Christian do not use prayer to force or manipulate others. This is prayer magick. Christians, rather, pray to God in this context is on the behalf of others concerning behavior that we know to be harmful to them and a sin against God seeking God's will, not ours. Free will is always intact. God NEVER intrudes upon our Free Will, but God can be a mighty persuader.
