music criteria in whitihin the church
Hello Brother Ignatius,
Your site is awesome the more i read the more i find supper good answers. Thank a million for your hard work.
I was wondering if it could be possible to have a list of some of the bands that are known to have very bad spiritual music even known to be satanists. I mean a section not only for good books and bad books to read but incorporate music as well, good bands and bad ones?
I was wondering what were the things to look for in order to know what group is good or bad. Some music is great to listen to yet when listenning to it after a while you come to question it.
I Had freinds telling me that many songs all the while they were listenning to it and singing it, they felt as if their soul and being was force to turn to face some kind of image they said they saw interiorly and who was a demon while singing the prainsing song. It mentioned the name Jesus but never Jesus Christ our Lord, that he is Lord or Savior and so forth. They said they found themselves in a position as to were they thought the song of praising was all for something they despised the most which is not Our Lord who died for us. What to think of songs that never mentions the name of God and so forth? After all we can't say that music is just music and a song just a song.
So my question is this, is there a certain criteria, that was written on the subject before, that we could read that mentions certain rules to keep in mind while looking for or composing music and songs. I guess the same would go for songs to be used in the Liturgy at mass or during retreats. Surely their might be something on that matter comming from the church and it's position in discerning what is acceptable and what is not from A to B so that things like that do not happend???
PS: Do take in note that i do think that that could be just an attack as well from a demon to the person from praising God and thus keeping us away from worshipping and praising God even more with the use of music. Music and singing is said to be praying twice. LOL... Our enemy does not like it. :-) :-)
Thank you for answering.

Dear Sandy: It is a good idea to have a list of dangerous music. I can put that on my TO DO list which is stack as high as the Empire State Building :) I have a poster that says, "God gave me a certain amount of things to do in this life before I die. Right now I am so far behind I will never die!" As far as criteria to evaluated music:
Those 10 points will get a person started. Using these 10 points there will be music that fails the test in nearly every genre: Classical, Folk, Country, Bluegrass, Jazz, Blues, hip-hop, the non-music Rap, rock, pop, hard rock, acid rock, heavy metal, etc. Some genre's are worse than others, of course, but there can be music and lyrics in all these genres that are not the best for Christians to listen to.
