intercessory prayer PT. II
QUESTION from Faith on May 7, 2004

First, of all I want to thank you for this site. It's truly a blessing and very helpful. And thanks for all the answers to the questions.

1. My question is, I've been in intercessory prayer for a childhood friend for 7 months now. How long should a person stay in prayer? Is it possible for a person to not be delivered from spells and curses of witchcraft? I can't see that my prayers are working? I'm I doing something wrong? I've been praying the hedge prayer of protection, and the prayer for a friend to be delivered from evil and the prayer to break curses. But, I can't see that I'm making any progress in prayer.

2. And, I have a friend who told me about a spiritualist. And supposely this woman can help you rid yourself from evil. The woman communicates with angels. She says that St. Micheal, St. Anthony and St. Anthony's mother communicates with her regularly. Also, she was raised Catholic and she believes in prayer. Do you think that this woman is dealing with demons to have this power or is it possible for her to speak with St. Micheal and St. Anthony?

3. Also, should I speak with her for help? Is it possible that if I spoke with her my friend would be delivered from his situation sooner?

I know my post is long and I apologize. But, I really need you help with this situation. Thank you in advance.

ANSWER by Bro. Ignatius Mary, OLSM on May 7, 2004

Dear Faith:

Concerning Question #1: You never stop praying. It is not for us to count on seeing the answer to prayer. We may never see the outcome of our prayers, but we must continue to pray for the people we are praying for until the day we die.

It is possible that a person may never be delivered from a curse if God ordains that. Some people are called to be "suffering souls" for example. Most of the time, however, a person can be delivered, but it may take a long time with many prayers, and may take seeking out a Deliverance Counselor to help.

Concerning Question #2: There is no such thing as a Catholic "spiritualist". This is an oxymoron.

Concerning Question #3: Under no circumstances should you ever consult this person.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
