premonitions
QUESTION from Erika on April 14, 2004

I tend to get a sense of forboding the day before some very unpleasant experience - a car accident, death in the family, losing a job, and being assulted, for instance. These things happen totally out of the blue, so I don't think there's a natural explanation. I certainly don't seek it out, but when it happens I consider it a sort of 'warning' and have occasionally been able to avoid danger because of it. Does this sound like a demonic influence?

Dear Erika:

Most of these kinds of experiences do have a natural explanation that is sources in the deep recesses of the subconscious. Other times this experience is a gift from God.

One thing to remember is that demons CANNOT know the future unless God reveals it to them (same goes for Angels). Angels and demons, however, are extremely intelligent and they know all the variables and whyfors in our lives and thus can make some pretty accurate predictions. But this predictions are based on knowing us so well that they can be accurate in knowing how we will act in a given situation. True fore-knowledge of the future, however, neither demons nor angels can do.

Unless these experiences lead you into new age or occult activities, thoughts, or philosophies, or otherwise bring about negative paranormal events and such, I would not worry about it. You say this has helped to avoid danger. Praise God! Whether this is based in nature or a preternatural remnant, or gift from God, unless other markers of a negative kind begin happening, just take it ins stride and praise God for it.

I would, however, pray to God that if any of this is not of Him or pleasing to Him that God would remove these experiences from you.

God Bless,
Bro. Ignatius Mary
